I pulled the fuel injectors in my 79' 924 and two of the injectors have a pretty fair amount of rust on the tips.

Is it safe to soak the injectors in something like Seafoam and use a wire brush on them? The rust looks superficial but since the tips are so small, I can't easily access them with anything but a brush or something.

Mild caustic soda solution in an ultrasonic bath for 24 hrs. Good as new.

Welp I cleaned the injectors and pulled the pin out of one of the especially rusty ones. Now I am unsure about the others. At about $60 an injector, this kind of sucks.

if you decalibrate that spring inside or damage the sealing or difusing cone with the wire brush, they are worthless. dont wire brush them!

i had to replace a set, the sprung loaded spray defuser/injector wall gets warn with time. it is under low fuel pressure with no flow where there will be leaks if there is wear. The spray pattern can also become poor and impossible to correct if is it warn.

There are all sorts of things on the internet saying you can clean them, this is true, but the wear is what you cant see and I doubt the guys would see it as its at very very low pressure. there you get drips.at higher pressures the spray pattern is poor(this can be corrected by adjusting the sprung defuser, but then check again for leaks.)

Best thing to do with the old ones is smash them with a hammer, then some poor guy doesn't get 2nd hand ones that are never going to work right.

All are different by the way, the 924 injectors will only be similar to a few other cars. there are many many different injectors.
