Trying to figure out the above.

If there's anyone who could conveniently snap a pic, I'd be grateful.

I just went out, climbed under the car and looked and I didn't see any ground strap. Do you have the PET page that would show it?

Never seen one. The assembly is bolted to the cross member which is bolted to the chassis. Wouldnt really need a ground.....

I have seen ground straps on some cars from the block to the cross member. From memory, I seem to recall it going from one of the bolts by the A/C / Alternator bracket, and then grounding to the upper LHS bold where the steering rack mounts to the cross member.

Thanks for the replies. Fwiw, my car did have a ground strap from an oil pan bolt to the x member.

About to drop engine out of my 87 24S. There is a small ground wire on the clamp bolt for the pressure hose straight down from steering shaft. It runs over the back side of pressure hose and down to cross member about 3 inches to the left of lower drivers side rack mount bolt. It is held to x member with a Phillips screw. Still don't have photobucket set up. Sorry. Hope this helps. Paul

I just checked my 84 944 parts car. It also has this ground wire in the same location I described above.
