|
|
| I tried posting a cross reference before but the cross did not work out. Does anyone know the difference between Bosch cold start valve 0280170414 and part number 0280170402 or 0280170406 or 0280170416? They look the same. Thanks, ted |

Is the one you're trying to replace not serviceable? I only ask because most of them should be able to be made good as new by an FI specialist. _________________ Toofah King Bad

| The one I have seems to be plugged. This car sat for 15 yrs and was heavily varnished. I cleaned the actual injectors successfully, however I have tried soaking this one with no success. When the coil is energized I can hear it click but it will not spray fuel under pressure, nor will compressed air pass when it is energized. Since this is the first Porsche I have tackled any help is appreciated. Has anyone tried applying a little heat to the injector and then energize with lacquer thinner in the inlet side? |

Hi Ted,
I do have a list of CSVs Bosch made with specs and the cars that came equipped with them. It's in German though - if you think it'll help you let me know, I'll forward it to you.
I replaced mine also as it seemed to flood my engine. Having them serviced seems not worth the money, they're still relatively easily available used where I am. Just an indication - I paid 15 EUR for my replacement ( that made all the difference to a faultless cold start, btw. ).
HTH,

Lucky you. Mine comes back to a 930 part number...three hundred bucks (servicing is $25).
I'd love to see your cross reference chart. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Apologies for the delay; I do have the Bosch catalog (hardcopy) for fuel injection products.
That catalog (1998 vintage) shows the same part # for all US 924, NA and Turbo: 0 280 170 401.
According to the catalog, that part# cross-references (again, this is all US market, sorry) to:
Audi:
81-83 4000
84 5000
'75-76 Fox
Ferrari:
80-85 308 GTBi
80-85 GTSi
86-89 328 GTB
86-89 GTS
81-89 Mondiale
Peugeot:
80-86 505i
Renault:
82-83 Fuego (piece of shite that it is)
SAAB:
79-80 900
76-80 99
75 99EMS
VW:
82-83 Quantum
The -402 part number hits a long list of VWs, the 75-77 911 and 78-79 928, and a few more Audis.
Similarly, the -416 part # covers a stack of Audis and VWs.
Sadly, I haven't figured out how to dig into our technical library enough to find out the tech spec differences (no doubt related to fuel delivery volume) on the different part #'s... nor have I found anyone in the gas engines groups who gives enough of a crap to look it up... most of my Powertrain contacts are in the Diesel group, and, well, you can imagine they're pretty busy these days... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I found a moment to look up the data Ted requested. So, here goes:
0280170402, for Porsche 2,7 l ( I presume that means 911 ), output 115ccm/min at 4,5 bar
0280170406, for Audi 100, output 135 ccm/min at 4,5 bar, 45 deg. spraying angle
0280170408, for VW Golf, Scirocco (Japan only ), output 115 ccm/min at 4,5 bar
0280170416, for 5cyl Audi, output 135 ccm/min at 4,5 bar.
HTH,
Eliza
and edit: 0280170401 shows for Saab, Audi 80 and 100, output at 85 ccm/min at 4,5 bar if a "0"printed on CSV body, otherwise output at 115 ccm/min. _________________ 1985 924 NA RoW

Hi Ted,
Oops, forgot to include that one.
0280170414, for Porsche 924 model year 81 (EU), 85 ccm/min at 4,5 bar.
Yep, PM me your email address and I'll forward the whole list.
However, I may be able to do one better for you :
If you let me know which year and specs (BHP) your car is, I can find you a list of all Bosch K-Jet part no.s your car was originally equipped with. Should you not have the right CSV, you can then cross-ref the no. in the chart.
Cheers,

And for anyone else looking for the same info for their cars, check out this site:
http://www.bosch-classic.com/en/internet/bosch_classic/technisches_archiv/technisches_archiv_uebersicht.html
For all makes and models that were equipped with anything Bosch, alternators, coils, spark plugs, belts, lamps, the works. REALLY useful, that.
Registering enables you to download all sorts of goodies (no affiliations, btw ).

You're welcome
Good opportunity for me to give something back for all the invaluable info and insights I have been plucking off this great forum during the last few years -
now my car is running so sweetly I finally have time to solder LEDs into my backlit console switches to make them light up again with the dash lights , or replace the base of my rear defogger switch with a slightly cannibalized 2-way fog light switch base off a 944/I so I can switch the heated mirrors on separately.
I love projects that can be done in the warm kitchen instead of the garage at this time of year

Respectfully, even using the Bosch number you listed (0 280 170 401), I can't find this in the US for under $135 (German Auto Parts).
Anyone else looking? _________________ Toofah King Bad

I see one on Ebay Germany for 47 EUR just now (which I wouldn't buy because I find it WAY overpriced ) - it is easier/cheaper of course to buy the higher-output ones here because no 85 HP engines were ever sold in Europe AFAIK.
I could keep an eye open for a good price, however, with shipping added this probably wouldn't make much sense...
On the Bosch site, you can run a product search for your CSV and find an application list. Trip to the Pull-A-Part?
