It is not the simplest of jobs for an inexperienced DIY'er and you do require special tooling. I did this job about six months ago and it is time comsuming.
While you are in there you might want to check you CV joints and boots. If they are worn, repack them and turn the halfshaft around so that the bit that went onto the wheel hub now goes onto the gearbox.
From memory I think you need the following to do this job:
A good quality 32mm socket.
A long and strong breaker bar so that you can break the nut holding the half shaft free. It was installed with 350nm. If you have air tools this would be a good time to use them
A torque wrench capable of 350nm
A selection of Circlip and sharp nose pliers
A selection of pin punches
Rubber/plastic/wooden mallet to hammer out the old bearings
Various sockets to help with seating of the new bearings
Axle grease
Good luck! |
