Just spoke to the seller on this '81 931 and I think it's a decent car for the price. I'll be unable to drive down and have a look for at least a week. And I really don't need ANOTHER 931 but heck... this one appears to be in much better condition than the '82 when I bought it.

Cam belt guard is on, good sign..
No coolant cap? but it's green in there..
Pretty rusty..
Some crazy wire taped to the brakeing by the master?

Sport seats, might be worth like 1/4 of his asking price..
Shifter looks different, short?
Has AC..
Dash looks optimistic..

Very nice looking interior and decent color options..
Nobody hates silver and black interior like some people hate some other colors, but it's not overly interesting either..

Very nice looking body, engine could be anything..

Look for rust in the battery tray and other things to talk him down with..

I saw that one too, pretty interested, but a bit too much of a jaunt to pick up for me.

I should still have his number. I'll check with him today.

Just spoke to Jeff and he's still got that 931. His number is 256-347-6596. Did I mention he's owned that car for 20 years?

I was and am interested, but didn't really feel like I was getting much information out of the seller when I talked to him, asked a few questions, got a few very brief answers, he didn't tell me enough of a story about the car for me to take the leap of faith to make an offer site unseen. Not suggesting anything shady, I just wanted him to to give me a lot of information and history, and it really didn't seem to be coming out, or likely to. Also asked if he would budge on price, not immediately, but after we had talked a bit, he said no, I said ok, thanks for your time. Neither of us blinked and tried to get back in touch. I think he may feel he is sitting on something that will go up in price if he sits on it, so he is content to do just that.

I got the same impressions. I did try to make him realise that storing it outside wasn't a good idea and it would degrade quickly. The interior leaks can damage a lot in a short time.

Does seem like a nice enough car, better than mine was when I dragged it back from Atl to Det!

That loose taped-up wire looks to be for the AC compressor clutch.
