Hello everyone I am currently in the process of removing the engine in my 1987 924s and while I was removing the starter I noticed some white powder fall from the heat shield by the torque tube and catalytic converter. I took a piece of the heat shield off and had it tested for asbestos and the test came back positive for it. So my question to the community is there a replacement heat shield out there that I can use that does not have asbestos.

Thanks for letting us know. I've always handled it as if it was asbestos, even though I didn't know for sure. I replaced this shield with a dynamat self-style stick shield and it worked great! That said, the later cars, including the 944 turbos did not have this shield, so on other cars I've just removed it; if you would rather go that route...
