Does anyone know who does crank work ( counter weighting )I was doin some reading
and the nearest I can tell the flywheel is so heavy because this
makes the engine last longer and if you run a lightend flywheel its a good idea to have a counterweighted crank or a heavier pulley to aide in vibration and harmonic balance not to forget engine longevity again. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

I found a machine shop (automotive machine co.)
that does computer balencing, crank grinding, flywheel grinding.
there closed today though. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Joe, the 924 crank is already fully counterweighted. This is one of the reasons there is no counterweight on the flywheel or the front pulley. I was amazed when I pulled my 924 apart and saw the crank! It is forged steel, cross drilled and champhered, fully counterweighted with filleted-radiused bearing journals. In the world of american iron this is a full race $1500 crankshaft! I would think lightning the flywheel would work well on this engine as it has so much other rotating mass already. One thing that may be considered would be some sort of harmonic balancer. Not sure on the science of that on though.

Great ,"cause I know that it would be nice to have " (lightened flywheel)
now its even better that I wont have to worry about the crank ...thanks _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na
